College of Economics and Management
The College of Economics and Management was established by a merger of the College of Economic Management and Business School in June 1999. Tongji University started its management program in 1956 and was one of the first Chinese universities to have a management program. The College offers major programs in economics and management and is composed of the Department of Business Administration, the Department of Construction Management and Real Estate, the Department of Management Science and Information, the Department of Economics and Finance, the Department of Accounting and the Department of Public Management. It also has Research Institute of Project Management, Institute of Information Management and Technology, Institute of Modern Finance , Economics Research Institute, Institute of Investment Studies, Management and System Engineering Research Institute and a college library.
There are 198 staff members in the College: 38 are full professors and 56 associate professors. The College offers eight undergraduate programs, fourteen Master degree programs and five doctoral programs; in addition, it has a post-doctoral mobile station. Currently the college has over 2000 undergraduate students and 2700 postgraduate students. The College makes full use of the comprehensiveness of the university and has been successful in providing students with knowledge not only in economics and management but also in sciences and engineering so that graduates are better prepared for a complex world of work.
The College has been actively involved in international exchanges and cooperative programs abroad. It has established links with its counterparts in Australia , Canada , France , Germany , Japan , Singapore and the USA as well as in Chinese Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan . The College is running joint programs with the Audencia Ecole de Management de Nantes and the ESSEC Business School of France, an undergraduate exchange program in business administration with the Reims Business School of France, a business administration venture in the Golf program andthe SIMBA (Shanghai International Master of Business Management) program.
